How We Started
1993
It all began in 1993, when a group of friends wanted to go on trip for the weekend. After a short discussion, they chose Rangannathittu as their destination, made a last minute arrangement for a van and headed off. Everything was exciting and adventurous for the first few hours. They loved the wind through their hair, ate yummy street food, enjoyed the changing scenery and had the fun filled conversations that youthful friends do. However, the last minute planning caused a few problems, including lack of accomadation, and not-great food in some places. While they chose to make the best with what they got and have fun in that trip, they decided to make better plans for their next trips. In the following trips to Kemmanagundi and Nandi Hills, they made sure that they had good food, proper accomodation plans, with refreshing and enjoyable activities. They started getting a sense of what to do and what can be avoided when going on trips.
2000
The friends had to step up their game, when they got families of their own. Comfortable accomodation and decent transportation was non-negotiable for their wives and kids. In the first trip with their families, planning for Dandeli began many weeks in advance. Emails whizzed back and forth, and they quickly learned that the term 'fun' meant different things to their kids, their wives and them. Most of the women wanted more shopping, and the kids wanted more swimming and games. Keeping at the forefront that everyone should be taken care of and no one should feel left out, they changed the structure of their trip. It was in that trip that they realized that caring for the individual had a tremendous positive impact on the group experience of the trip. In fact, the Dandeli trip is still remembered fondly to this day by everyone who went. Many family trips were planned after that to places in India including Rottikallu, Waynad, Coorg, Vizag, and Rajasthan. As they planned more trips, they improved their skills in preparing itineraries, effective coordination, and cost negotiation.
2010
In 2010 they decided it was time to go someplace international. The kids were old enough and most of their families were eager for their first abroad experience. For their first international trip together, they decided on visiting Singapore and Malaysia. In this, they were presented with new challenges including getting visas, booking affordable air travel, and ensuring that personal needs are met internationally. In the process, they also discovered that they were able to save a lot of money in the international group bookings. The trip was successful; many pictures were taken, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the brand new experiences. After being invigorated with the experience of Singapore, they planned and went on more international trips together, to places including Maldives and Bhutan and Europe.
